A jobless widower is now behind bars after yielding one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation around 9AM June 15 at Bernardes I, Brgy. Atipolo, Naval, Biliran.
Naval Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Major Ryan Delima identified the suspect as Freddie Dela Peña, 43, widower, jobless, and a resident of the said barangay.
Recovered from the suspect was one (1) sachet containing white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu procured by an operative for P500.00. During the body search witnessed by Hon. Noel N. Orbeta, Jhunafel B. Quilaneta from the National Prosecutors Service, and Marlon Anthony Mecaral from the media, the searcher recovered one (1) P500.00 bill bearing serial number RC527444 prescribed by court for the said operation. Except for the buy-bust money, no other evidences were recovered from the suspect.
The suspect denied the evidences confiscated from him. The police, however, said his arrest underwent thorough scrutiny and that the operation was then launched only when his involvement of the drug trade was confirmed.
Charges for violations of Sec.5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA9165) were pressed against the suspect who was temporarily incarcerated at the Naval Municipal Police Station.
