Two (2) students allegedly transporting suspected shabu were apprehended by the Palompon Municipal Police Station during a checkpoint around 11PM of October 19 at Brgy. San Isidro, Palompon, Leyte.
The suspects were identified as Vincent P. Abao, 22, and a resident of Brgy. Central II in Palompon; and Mark L. Llaneta, 24, a resident of Brgy. Sto. Niño, Capoocan, Leyte. Both suspects are single and still studying.
Based on the police report obtained by LEYTEÑO PERYODIKO, the suspects were riding in tandem aboard a single motorcycle and were flagged down for inspection. However, the authorities noticed the reluctance of the two.
When the authorities approached the duo, they saw them throw a black coin purse to the roadside. This caught the attention and the suspicion of the PNP personnel who recovered the coin purse.
The coin purse yielded several sachets containing suspected shabu prompting the arrest of the students.
Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are pressed against the suspects.
