A barangay chairman filed a complaint at the local police station after he was allegedly mauled by one of his constituents around 4:30PM June 17 at Brgy. Vienna Maria, Catubig, Northern Samar.
Catubig Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Capt. Noel Unay identified the victim as Felipe Infante Ochondra, 60, with live-in partner, a resident, and the barangay chairman of the said barangay. The suspect was identified as Junjun Orlaza Perez, 31, single, a farmer, and also a resident of the said barangay.
Case investigator Police Cpl. Dave Rozas, in a phone interview, disclosed that Ochondra personally approached their office around 10:45AM June 18 accompanied by his partner Natty Orlaza and reported the incident that transpired in their barangay Friday afternoon. Cpl. Rozas immediately responded to the barangay to locate the suspect but residents said that the suspect is nowhere to be found and believed to hid himself in the mountainous part of the barangay.
Accordingly, the complainant was monitoring the ongoing repairs of the basketball court and stage of his barangay when the suspect suddenly throw a ball at him, hitting the back of his neck. According to Ochondra, the suspect said “pasummon-summon ka pa maaram ka na man nga diak maatender, bisan sin-o diri ak nahahadlok.” (You sent me a summon when you know I won’t heed to it, I’m not afraid of anybody). Not to be outdone, the suspect punched the chieftain in the mouth, resulting in the latter’s busted lips.
Cpl. Rozas continued that the victim only reported to the police on the Saturday as they returned home late Friday after securing medical clearance from a local hospital.
The local police are preparing charges against the suspect who is still at large.
