VAWC cases in region dropped by 31%

The incidents of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) here in Eastern Visayas have dropped by 31.13% compared to the previous year.


In her presentation to Police Regional Office (PRO-8) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac, Police Major Analiza C. Armeza of the Women and Children Protection Desk reported a significant decline of 146 VAWC cases from January to May this year compared to the same period last year.


In Violence Against Women (VAW), Major Armeza disclosed that the recorded offenses were relative to cases to Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (RA 9262). For Violence Against Children (VAC), the recorded offenses were relative to cases of Rape.

Meanwhile, this PRO has a notable Crime Solution Efficiency of 32.50% and a 99.38% Crime Clearance Efficiency.


The top performing Provincial Police Office/City Police Office (PPOs/CPOs) in terms of Crime Solution Efficiency were the Tacloban CPO with 56.09% followed by Ormoc CPO with 45.45% and the Northern Samar PPO with 29.54%.


On Crime Clearance Efficiency, the Leyte PPO, Samar PPO and the Southern Leyte PPO all recorded 100% efficiency.


Regional Director Banac encouraged the public to report to proper authorities any kind of harm or violations committed against them and not to hesitate exercising their rights. “Our WCPD and the entire police force remain steadfast in protecting the welfare of the public especially involving the women and children who deserve to be given value and importance.”
