Businessman and Matag-ob, Leyte mayoral candidate Bernandino ‘Bernie’ Tacoy and his BGT Cares Foundation extended help to victims of Typhoon Agaton in Baybay City, morning of Good Friday.
Together with his son, Vincent, Tacoy and his foundation first visited the Command Center at the Immaculate Conception Hospital before proceeding to the Baybay City Senior High School wherein he personally distributed the relief provisions for the evacuees there. The distribution saw no lines as Tacoy and his crew just inquire how many families were inside the classroom and will then allocate accordingly.
After which, they proceeded to Brgy. Kambonggan where all evacuees from Brgy. Mailhi were housed. Mailhi is one of the barangays that recorded landslides.
In an interview with LEYTEÑO PERYODIKO, Mailhi Brgy. Kagawad Rowelita Paña disclosed that over three hundred (300) families from her barangay were taking shelter at the covered court of Kambonggan after landslides transpired last April 11. The said families translate to over a thousand individuals though some of their constituents were at Brgy. Imelda to arrange funerals for their loved ones who succumbed under the landslides. Paña extend her heartfelt gratitude to Tacoy and BGT Cares Foundation for extending help to them.
On his part, Tacoy revealed that five hundred (500) food packs were distributed by the foundation to the City of Baybay. He added that another wave of a thousand (1000) food packs will be coursed through him by the Pitmasters Foundation. On top of these, he already allocated three thousand (3000) food packs for victims of Typhoon Agaton in the Municipality of Abuyog.
