The 8th Infantry (Stormtrooper) Division, Philippine Army announces the admission of 127 individuals who passed the qualifications and prerequisites to be called army recruits.
One hundred fifteen (115) male and twelve (12) female recruits began their training January 28 at the 8th Division Training School (8DTS) Headquarters at Camp Vicente Lukban, Brgy. Maulong, Catbalogan City. Of the 115, 108 (94%) came from Eastern Visayas while the rest came from other regions. 37.6% of them are college graduates, 34.4% are college level while the rest are graduates of either vocational courses or senior high school.
The trainees will undergo five (5) months of rigorous training.
Stormtroopers Spokesperson Capt. Ryan Layug said that the division continues to receive an influx of applicants from within the region. Applicants mostly came from barangays where they deployed Community Support Teams (CST).
“Actually napakarami po talaga ng mga nag-iexam at gustong magsundalo. During board deliberation sa mga aplikante, when we ask bakit gusto nila magsundalo, ang sagot ng marami ay dahil maipagmamalaking trabaho ang pagsusundalo". Capt Layug stressed.
The AFP ranked as the most trusted government agency in the Institutions Approval Scorecard of PUBLiCUS Asia, Inc PAHAYAG-Quarter 3 (PHYG-Q3) survey with a 66.73% approval rating.
