Station 3’s most wanted falls

Ormoc City Police Office – Police Station 3 nabbed the No. 8 Most Wanted Person in their office during an operation around 10AM February 26 at Sitio Mabolo, Brgy. Esperanza, Ormoc City.


Station 3 Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Rodolfo Mercolita identified the suspect as Charito Pontes, 41, married, a farmer and resident of the aforementioned barangay.


The arrest was by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Maria Corazon S. Vergara-Naraja, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 47 in Ormoc City dated Feb 16, 2022 for three (3) counts of violations to Sec. 5 (b) of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act (RA 7160) docketed under Criminal Case # R-ORM-22-00045-CR, R-ORMOC-22-00046-CR and R-ORM-22-00048-CR. The court approved a bail of P600, 000.00 for the suspect’s temporary liberty. The suspect also faces a case for grave threats with approved bail bond of P36, 000.00.


In an interview with Police Chief Master Sergeant Jackson Sivila, he disclosed that the case sprout from a mere child’s play. He said that the suspect’s son was playing with other kids when their play suddenly went physical. When the suspect saw his kid crying, he allegedly scolded his son’s playmates. Not to be outdone, the suspect strike the children and even threatened their respective parents.


The commotion escalated to the barangay level, with both parties summoned in dire attempt to settle but a compromise wasn’t reached. Such that the victims sought the help of the court.

It’s still unknown if the suspect’s family will try to bail the suspect out considering the bulk of the amount.
