Five (5) establishments were astounded when the Social Security System (SSS)-Ormoc implemented the Run After Contributions Evaders (RACE) campaign last July 27.
SSS Vice-President for Visayas Central 2 Division, Mario Corro, led the composite team Operation RACE together with SSS-Ormoc Branch Head Atty. Porferio Salidaga, Jr.
Corro said the implementation was successful considering that they were able to convey through persuasion the importance of the RACE program in reminding employers to remit their contributions and report their employees.
The RACE campaign doesn’t limit to contribution evaders but encompassed employers failing to register their employees.
The five establishments assured to comply with the requisites within fifteen (15) days. Shall they fail, they will face the consequences as SSS would file a complaint in court.
Corro disclosed that employers were already aware of their obligations to SSS before they conducted the RACE. They were already informed and updated of their respective delinquencies and monitored constantly.
Such delinquencies were already identified and accumulated before the pandemic restrictions but SSS offered employers opportunities to avail restructuring thereby relaxing conditions.
Corro reminded employers in Ormoc as well as in the neighboring towns, “Once you engage in a business, you are obliged to report all employees regardless of the setup of the salary.”
SSS also announces that its current thrust is transforming from a physical to an electronic office. Online and electronic services are now available. A facility in their office can also help a low-tech member.
