Two (2) Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman, including the town’s federation president, are now behind bars after a minor complained that she was allegedly abused around 4AM June 8 inside the A.R. Hotel, Caneja Extension, Brgy. Sto. Niño, Naval, Biliran.
The complainant was a 15-year old girl, a Grade 10 student in one of the high schools here and a resident of the said town.
The suspects were identified as Paulo Crisostomo, 23, single, a resident of P.I. Garcia, Naval, and the SK Federation President of Naval; and Christ Jay Gollin, 25, with live-in partner, a resident and the SK Chairman of Brgy. Sto. Niño, Naval.
The victim confided to the police that she had a drinking spree with her friends together with the suspects at the house of Chairman Joel Ballesteros of Brgy. P.S. Eamiguel who was celebrating their annual fiesta. However, as the fun progressed, they decided to continue their drinking spree at the barangay covered court that lasted until 4AM in the morning of June 8.
Later, Gollin asked the victim to accompany him to bring Crisostomo to a lodging house as the latter was overly drunk, of which she agreed. The three (3) of them boarded a motorcycle to look for a lodging house and ended up at the A.R. Hotel.
Once inside, the victim disclosed that the suspects took turns of molesting and abusing her until she lost consciousness. When she regained strength, she mustered her way slowly to escape from her abusers. When she reached the nearest Shell Gasoline Station, she asked for help to report the incident to the police.
The victim was then referred to the Rural Health Unit (RHU-Naval) for medical examinations. The authorities then launched a hot pursuit operation and arrested the suspects.
Charges of rape are being prepared by the Women’s And Child Protection Division (WCPD) of the Naval Municipal Police Station against the detained suspects.
