PRO-8 implements "Preso Ko, Sagot Ko" program in Ormoc City

Robert C. Dejon | June 6, 2022

Police Regional Office (PRO-8) Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac, through the Regional Human Rights Desk (RHRD) implemented the Adopt a Person Under Police Custody (PUPC) “Preso Ko, Sagot Ko” program last May 31 in the different police stations under the Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO).

The said program has been consistently implemented by the RHRD headed by Police Lt. Col. Elmerson C. Badilla since its conception in 2018. It aimed to provide the PUPC basic needs and ensure their well-being during their confinement at the different custodial facilities in the region. During the said activity, food packs, hygiene kits and other personal needs were distributed to 25 PUPC.

Aside from the provisions specified, the team also conducted series of dialogues which allowed the PUPC the opportunity to air their concerns and grievances.

Also during the activity, the team recommended immediate medical attention to one (1) male PUPC who was noticed to be not feeling well.

The implementation of the said program manifests that PRO-8 cares and respects the right of every PUPC. "We hope that somehow, this activity has consoled all the inconveniences experienced by the PUPC in their current status. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of every City/Municipal Police Station doing the same to their PUPC," RD Banac pointed out.
