The Police Regional Office (PRO-8), under the leadership of Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac, hosted the Bless Our Cops School of Leadership Training held at the Matapat Hall inside the PRO at Camp Kangleon, Palo Leyte.
The said training commenced on June 27 and will culminate on July 1. This serves as a preliminary activity for the Police Community Relations (PCR) Month this July.
The Bless Our Cops is a program which envisions putting God into every cop which enables him to create a God-centered, family-based and service-oriented Philippine National Police (PNP). The BOC expanded its scope in 2011 not only for the PNP and the church but also to the communities and the country.
While the PNP is its primary and distinctive clientele, the BOC also focus of honing church leader and community stakeholders that will partake in community outreach and nation building alongside the PNP.
It has been raising awareness and establishing partnerships with like-minded Christian leaders who will adapt a police station in their locality. The said partnership worked to initiate community programs wherein the communities around the police stations will also be blessed.
The 5-day seminar workshop is facilitated by International BOC Coordinator Mr. Ron Wilson, and BOC President Mr. Bernabe V. Manuel. It aimed to help PNP personnel and life coaches to establish and reinforce a positive approach towards life, their respective families, and to the people they are bound to serve.
Regional Director Banac is grateful for such activity and extends his gratitude to all life coaches of PRO-8. He said that a life coach plays a big role in bringing out change in the PNP.“They are a ‘force multiplier’ for our transformation that is being achieved through the internal disciplinary mechanism and the internal cleansing program. They support the officers with prayers, moral and spiritual development, family counsel, and career development towards excellence in service ultimately towards community development and their service towards peace and order. The PNP has been weak in promoting moral and spiritual development that will keep pace with skills training and development. This program is designed to balance and correct this need.”
