Baybay City Mayor Carlos L. Cari lauded the Police Regional Office (PRO-8) headed by Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac for distributing cash assistance to the victims of Typhoon Agaton in the city and in the Municipality of Abuyog, Leyte.
The said cash assistance was originally intended for the police force who suffered the wrath of the typhoon.
In an interview with Mayor Cari, he was so impressed with the deeds of the regional director since the cash assistance will be distributed to those in need, some of which don’t have any houses to return. He hoped that the recipients will utilize the money properly as they awaited for the formal transfer to their new homes.
RD Banac handed-over a total of P1, 858, 191.00 cash assistance to the Local Government Units of Baybay City and Abuyog during a program held as the Baybay Convention Center last June 21, 2022. The said funds aimed to help expedite recovery and rehabilitation to families of both areas who suffered under the wrath of Typhoon Agaton last April 11.
For the Municipality of Abuyog, 139 families received P6, 072.00 each. In Baybay City, eight (8) families received P6, 072.00 while 159 families received P6,073.00 each.
The said cash assistance was donated by the PRO of Region 2, Region 5 and the Cordillera Administrative Region. PRO-2 donated P600, 000.00, the Cordilleras extended P1, 070, 265.00 while PRO-5 donated P187, 926.00.
Mayor Cari and Abuyog Municipal Mayor Lemuel K. Traya personally received the said cash assistance.
PRO-8 is grateful enough to PRO-2 through the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Steve B. Ludan, PRO-Cordillera through the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee and PRO-5 through the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Mario A. Reyes for their compassion and benevolence. "I am beyond thankful to these Police Regional Offices for extending their help to our constituents in Abuyog and Baybay, Leyte. To our recipient families, may the cash assistance somehow alleviate your burden in your daily needs. We, in the PNP are just here to be of support. Let us pray that this kind of adversity never comes again,” said RD Banac.
