The PNP Regional Office (PRO-8) presented their accomplishments from February 1 until May 15 this year during the Command Conference at the PRO Matapat Hall, May 27.
PRO-8 Regional Operations Division Assistant Chief Police Lt. Col. Douglas Antonio A. Eloja presented the accomplishments of the office under the supervision of Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Bernard M. Banac.
In its campaign against criminality, 180 persons listed on various levels’ Top 10 Most Wanted Persons and 490 Other Wanted Persons were apprehended. Eighty (80) illegal gun owners were arrested that led to the confiscation, surrendered and turned-in for safekeeping of 790 loose firearms.
One hundred twenty nine (129) individuals were arrested for illegal drugs, yielding a total of 25, 310.64 grams of shabu/marijuana with an estimated street value of P1, 626,099.25.
On its quest to curb illegal fishing, the PRO caught 330 persons along with its confiscated items amounting to P16, 074, 871.00.
Another 150 persons were apprehended for illegal logging with P2, 877,653.18 worth of confiscated lumber and forest products.
Meanwhile, 834 persons were nabbed for illegal gambling with a total bet money of P274,431.00 being confiscated.
On their campaign against insurgency, the PRO recorded a total of 29 members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) who voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. Twelve (12) other CTGs were arrested. A total of 36 surrendered/recovered/confiscated firearms and explosives were recorded.
“These notable accomplishments are the results of our stepped up operations against crimes and lawless elements in the region. Let us continue to do well in our mandated tasks as law enforcers of the land,” lauded RD Banac.
