More than fifteen (15) grams of suspected shabu estimated to value P102, 000.00 were seized during the dismantling of a drug den and a high-impact buy-bust operation around 4:15PM of February 13 at Sta. Barbara Homes, Brgy. 74 Lower Nula Tula, Tacloban City.
The said operation is jointly launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-8), the Leyte Provincial Police Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (LPPO-PDEU) and the Tacloban City Police Office – City Drug Enforcement Unit.
PDEA-8 Regional Direct Edgar Jubay identified the suspects as Vic Abolencia y Enverso a.k.a Bornok, 28, single and the alleged maintainer of the said drug den; Narciso Malabarbas y Alvares, 36, single and a driver; Antonio Lace y Naing, single, jobless; and Jonjon Bernal y Peleno, 18, single and a mechanic helper. All arrested suspects are residents of the aforementioned barangay.
PDEA-Tacloban City head, Agent Noven Pinalunan, disclosed that the arrested suspects are classified as High Value Targets due to the huge value of the seized evidences and were caught while in pot session.
Further investigation revealed that the target of the said operation was Abolencia whom an agent was able to procure one (1) sachet of suspected shabu worth P500.00. During the body search witnessed by barangay officials, representatives from the Department of Justice and the media, the searching agent recovered from the suspect cash money amounting to P1, 110.00 in different denominations and small medicine plastic pack marked “Mercury Drug” that yielded three (3) big sachets and four (4) small sachets estimated to weigh more than fifteen (15) grams and with a projected street value of P102, 000.00.
Also recovered was one (1) P500.00 bill with serial number S505669 prescribed by court for the said operation.
The apprehended suspects refused to issue statements to the media.
Charges to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are being readied against the suspects who were temporarily detained at the PDEA custodial facility in Palo, Leyte.
