A person charged with multiple counts of rape was finally caught after eight (8) of hiding around 5:30PM January 14 at Brgy. Margen, Ormoc City.
Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) Station 3 Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Rodolfo Mercolita identified the accused as Andy Abarilla y Ocang, 28, single, a construction worker and a resident of the said barangay.
Abarilla was arrested by virtue of an Alias Order of Arrest issued and signed by the late Hon. Clinton C. Nuevo, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 12, Ormoc City dated July 07, 2014 for three (3) counts of Rape under Criminal Case Nos. R-ORMC-14-00014-HC, R-ORM-14-00015-HC and R-ORMOC-14-00022-HC.
Abarilla is tagged as number 2 Most Wanted Person in Eastern Visayas.
Operatives disclosed that the suspect recently has returned to the city after 8 years in hiding. He believed that charges against him were already dropped. But a relative of his victim noticed his presence in the area and reported it to the police. The police then acted on the information and secured a warrant that eventually led to his arrest.
The suspect, who didn’t resist arrest during the serving of the warrant, confided to the police that he already assumed the relatives already forgave him considering the time he was missing. Such assumption proved futile however.
He was temporarily detained at the detention cell of Station 3 while waiting for the transmittal order for his transfer to the BJMP in Brgy. Alta Vista.
