Motorists aboard a single motorcycle suffered injuries after figuring themselves in a head-on collision with a four-wheel vehicle around 12:30PM March 3 along the curved section of the Maharlika Highway of Brgy. Bato, Biliran, Biliran.
Biliran Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Capt. Isidoro Ancero, Jr., identified the victims as Nelson Gelizon, of legal age, married, self-employed and the driver of the motorcycle. His back riders were identified as Jenelyn Bacalla y Mocorro, 25, single and jobless and Rowena Gelizon y Umaging, 38 and single. All three (3) were residents of Sitio Calachuchi, Brgy. Villa Enage, Biliran.
The other vehicle, a white Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX, was manned by one Augustus Ruiz, 44, married, sales manager of the International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (IPI) and a resident of Brgy. 81, LTS Villa Marna Subdivision, Brgy. Jugan, Consolacion, Cebu. His passenger were identified as Juniel Ramos, 35, married, a resident of Talisay City, Cebu and a sales representative of IPI.
Initial investigation reveals that the motorcycle was travelling from Naval heading for Biliran proper while the Mirage was on the opposite lane and was heading for Naval. Upon reaching the place of occurrence, the Mirage suddenly swerved his vehicle to the opposite lane resulting to a head-on collision with the motorcycle. The impact of the collision thrown the unsuspecting motorists reeling to the roadway, absorbing injuries to their bodies.
Gelizon, the driver, was severely injured and one of his foot suffered dislocation. The victims were then rescued and brought to the Biliran Provincial Hospital for immediate medical treatment. While both vehicles incurred severe damages, the Mirage’s driver and passenger were unscathed.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Mirage was brought to the Biliran Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
