Members of CPP-NPA surrendered in Dolores

Robert C. Dejon | May 30, 2022

Two (2) active members of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st ESPMFC) in Dolores, Eastern Samar, May 25.

The surrenderees were identified as ‘Ka Ebir’ who was also known as ‘Ka Jeron/Ka Janjan’, of legal age, with live-in partner, a farmer, a resident of Dolores, Eastern Samar and the team leader of his group; and ‘Ka Ogis’, 25, single, jobless and a resident of the same town.

Upon their surrender, Ka Ebir turned-over his one (1) .9mm caliber pistol with magazine while Ka Ogis turned-in one (1) unit fragmentation grenade.

The surrender of the two rebels was a result of the extensive efforts of the 1st ESPMFC led by Acting Force Commander, Police Lt. Col. Joy G. Leanza, in implementation of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

The two decided to surrender upon realizing that they were just deceived of the fake ideologies of the armed group. They have high hopes on the whole of the nation approach of the government programs that led them to strongly condemning and denouncing the CPP-NPA doctrine.

As of this writing, said surrenderees are under temporary protection of the 1st ESPMFC while waiting for the approval of the appropriate benefits of the Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Program (E-CLIP). Police Lt. Col. Leanza said that their office is open 24/7 for those who are willing to surrender.

PRO Regional Director, Police Brig. Gen Bernard M. Banac, expressed his gratitude to 1st ESPMC for their relentless efforts in the campaign against insurgency. "Thank you for doing your job. Just be safe. And to our brothers and sisters who are still in the armed struggle, it is high time for you to come back to the government. Think of your children's better future."
