Five (5) sachets containing suspected shabu estimated to worth P10K were recovered from the Top 6 of the drug watchlist of the Leyte Provincial Police Office (LPPO) during a buy-bust operation afternoon of January 24 at Caridad Sur, Matalom, Leyte.
Matalom Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Renie Ablan identified the suspect as Diolito Ocba y Pijoto, alias Pihing, 32, married, jobless and a resident of Brgy. Sta. Fe of the said town. He is tagged as a High Value Target by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and ranked 6th in the provincial level drug watchlist.
Recovered from the suspect was one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu procured by an operation for P500.00. During the body search witnessed by Sangguniang Barangay (SB) members Rolendo T. Siega and Napoleon P. Galie and Eric F. Justiniane of the West Leyte Weekly Express (WLWE), the searching cop recovered another three (3) medium-sized sachets containing suspected shabu and another sachet inside a vapor rub container. Also recovered was cash in different denominations amounting to P850.00 with one P500 bill bearing serial number AV 419568 subscribed by court for the said operation.
The suspect however denied owning of the confiscated illegal substances and accused the arresting officer planting the evidences.
Police Lt. Ablan disclosed though that they were closely monitoring the suspect’s activity after receiving reports that he is handling the illegal activities of his brother-in-law and other siblings who are also wanted for illegal drugs. The suspect along his cohorts were very clever that the police force were having difficulties in arresting them. However, after over a month of surveillance, the suspect finally fell into the trap that led to his arrest.
Suspect is temporarily detained at the lockup cell at Matalom Municipal Police Station while charges to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are being readied against him.
