The J&F Department Store/Puregold Supermarket here was burned when a conflagration occur around 4AM June 27 at Capitan Cidad St., Dulag, Leyte.
Dulag Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Capt. Joshua Ben Chiquillo said that their station received a call from a concerned citizen around 4:30AM that morning informing them that a fire has engulfed the J&F Department Store. They immediately responded to the information to provide security to the responding firefighters.
The fire reached second alarm that prompted fire engines from the neighboring towns to rush and help contain the said conflagration that reportedly broke out from the second floor of the said edifice.
Accordingly, firefighters and fire trucks from the towns of Tolosa, Burauen, Julita, Tabon-Tabon, Mayorga, MacArthur, La Paz, Dagami, Abuyog, Tanauan, Palo, Alangalang, and the Chinese Chamber Fire Volunteer from Tacloban City all arrived to help contain the fire.
The fire was controlled around 6AM that morning but firefighting continued even beyond 11AM as black smoke continued to belch from the building.
No injuries were reported and, as of press time, no estimates of the damages were released.
