An estimated P125, 000.00 worth of suspected shabu were recovered from a high-value individual during a joint buy-bust operation around 6:36PM June 30 at Brgy. Nalibunan, Abuyog, Leyte.
The said operation was launched by composite teams from the Leyte Provincial Police Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (LPPO-PDEU), the LPPO – Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Abuyog Municipal Police Station.
The suspect was identified as Oscar Gecera, 50, married, self-employed, and resident of the said barangay. He is listed as a newly-reloaded high-valued individual in the illegal drugs watch list.
Recovered from the suspect was one (1) large sachet containing suspected shabu procured by an operative for P15, 000.00. During the body search witnessed by Brgy. Chairman Roland M. De Veyra and DOJ representative Ruel Realino, the searcher recovered a pouch that contained a ‘Mighty’ cigarette pack and another six (6) sachets containing same suspected shabu estimated to worth around P125, 000.00.
Also recovered inside the pouch were thirty (30) P500.00 bills with one bearing serial number FD179976 prescribed by court for the said operation, and a black KGTEL cellphone.
The suspect denied ownership of the confiscated evidences. However, police reiterated that he would not be arrested if his involvement in the illegal drug trade isn’t confirmed.
Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) were prepared by the arresting cops against the suspect who was temporarily detained at the Abuyog MPS.
