Grocery bagger yields shabu

A newly-identified drug peddler was arrested by operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) Police Station 1 at Purok 6, Brgy. San Pablo, Ormoc City, evening of January 15.


Station 1 SDET Chief Police Lt. Rolly Macarrubo identified the suspect as Ranny Leirdy Tandoy, 23, single, bagger in a Chinese-owned grocery and a resident of Brgy. Juaton, this city.


Recovered from his possession was one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu procured by an operative for P1, 000.00. During the body search witnessed by Barangay Kagawad Renheil C. Chavez of San Pablo and Leyteño Peryodiko, the searching cop failed to find other illegal evidence in his body. However, a black pouch was found near the suspect which the police claimed the former threw. When opened, the pouch yielded cash of different denomination worth P3, 600.00 including a P1000.00 bill bearing serial number CA450799 prescribed by court for the said operation.


The police also recovered a cut yellow paper that yielded another two (2) sachets containing suspected shabu estimated to worth P2, 000.00.


The suspect refused to issue statements to the media. He was immediately brought to PS1 for detention while charges to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are being readied against him.
