Two (2) fishermen were caught by patrolling personnel of the Northern Leyte Maritime Command around 10:45PM of February 26 along the seawaters of Brgy. Libertad, Isabel, Leyte.
Northern Leyte Maritime Command Chief Police Major Benjamin Lodo, Jr., identified the suspects as Robenson Laroya Obeda, 48, married, a farmer and the boat captain and his assistant Arniel Bregildo Obeda, 22, single and student. Both are residents of Brgy. Sto. Niño, this town.
Major Lodo disclosed that his unit were implementing seaborne patrol that evening when they spotted an unmarked pump boat fishing. They approached the vessel and when they tried to talk with the fishermen, they discovered that these were perfoming illegal fishing. Such that they immediately apprehend the fishermen and brought them to shore.
Amongst the confiscated evidences was one (1) unmarked fishing motorboat estimated to worth P20, 000.00, one (1) 9HP motor engine marked Honda with no credentials estimated to cost P 12, 000.00, another engine with a hose that cost around P15, 000.00, one (1) polespear estimated to cost P300 and other fishing equipment. Also confiscated were the caught fish that weigh around two (2) kilograms and could worth P350.00.
All evidences along with the apprehended fishermen were brought to the Isabel Municipal Police Station for further investigation and proper disposition.
