A fisherman is currently detained at the local police office after police officers recovered multiple unlicensed firearms during a raid at the former’s residence around 4:40AM June 29 at Brgy. Buyo, Kawayan, Biliran.
Kawayan Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Ismael Corson identified the suspect as Robert Flores y Roldan, 44, married, a fisherman, and a resident of the said barangay.
The arrest of the suspect was by virtue of a Search Warrant No. 05-22 for Violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591) issued by Hon. Luz P. Navarrete, Presiding Judge, RTC, Branch 16, 8th Judicial Region, Naval, Biliran dated June 28, 2022.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession inside his house were one (1) 12-gauge homemade shotgun without serial number, and one (1) cal.38 revolver without serial number. Both firearms, however, yielded no bullet.
The implementation of the Search Warrant was witnessed by Punong Barangay Paulina A. Sumaya and Brgy. Kagawad Pitchi V. Fuentes of Brgy. Buyo.
The suspect offered no statement to the media. Alongside the confiscated evidences, the suspect was brought to the Kawayan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
