A former Sangguniang Barangay Member (SBM) was killed during an ambush perpetrated by unidentified culprits around 11:20AM May 28 at Sitio Bog-o, Brgy. Curva, Ormoc City.
Ormoc City Police Office – Police Station 3 Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Rodolfo Mercolita identified the casualty as Alejandro Casul, 47, married, a farmer and a resident of the aforementioned barangay.
Police Lt. Mercolita disclosed that a concerned citizen tipped their office thru their hotline of a shooting incident in the said area. Together with personnel of PS3, they immediately responded to the area and upon arrival saw the victim lying lifeless. Authorities located fatal gunshot wounds to different areas of the body, including the head.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was heading home to fetch his wife to go to the fiesta celebration in Brgy. Curva proper. Casul has just came from his wife’s relative to assist in the food preparation. However, upon arrival at their home, unidentified assailants approached the victim and peppered him with gunshots that led to his instantaneous death.
The police said that Casul sustained at least seven (7) gunshot wounds to different areas of his body and head that eventually resulted to his untimely demise.
