An estimated P90, 000 worth of suspected shabu was recovered by operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Leyte Provincial Police Office and the local Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) during a buy-bust operation around 2:46PM January 28 at Sitio Pantalan, Brgy. Poblacion, Tabango, Leyte.
Tabango Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Major Ronald Espina identified the suspect as Tito Cabillan y Naagas, 51, married, self-employed, and a resident of the aforementioned barangay. The suspect was a surrenderee of Oplan Tokhang as a peddler in 2016 and listed as High Valued Individual of the Leyte Provincial Police Office.
Recovered from the suspect were two (2) sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu procured by an operative in the amount of P2000. During the conduct of body search witnessed by barangay officials and representative from the media, the searching cop recovered a red Marlboro cigarette pack that yielded another nine (9) sachets containing suspected shabu. Also recovered were four (4) P500.00 bill including the court-prescribed bill bearing serial number QB363111.
All recovered evidences weigh 13 grams estimated to worth P90K. The suspect denied owning the evidences recovered from him saying he already stopped after surrendering in 2016.
However, Major Espina disclosed that the monitored the suspect after receiving reports that the latter returned to the illegal drug trade. During their surveillance, they’ve noticed motorcycles in the suspect’s house every evening past midnight who are residents from other barangays that will leave shortly after several minutes of talking with the suspect. The monitoring continued until an operative penetrated the suspect that resulted to his arrest.
Charges to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspect who is temporarily detained at the Tabango Municipal Police Station.
