An estimated twenty-five (25) grams of suspected shabu projected to worth around P162, 500.00 was recovered during a joint buy-bust operation around 11PM January 30 at Brgy. Mabuhay, Marabut, Samar.
The said operation was manned by operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU), the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Samar Police Provincial Office and the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Marabut, Samar.
Marabut Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Vincent Wendell Marteja identified the suspects as Eva Quimenales y Orbaneja, 41, single, jobless and a resident of Brgy. Osmeña, said town; and her cohort Maria Dece Ponferado y Geraldo, 38, jobless and a resident of Brgy. San Antonio, Tunga, Leyte.
Quimenales was tagged a High Value Individual by the RPDEU. She was recently released from prison via plea bargaining agreement after being arrested in a buy-bust in Tacloban City.
Recovered from Quimenales was one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu procured by an operative for P25, 000.00. During the body search witnessed by barangay officials and media, female searching cop recovered a sling bag that contained a coin purse. The coin purse yielded four (4) sachets of suspected shabu.
All recovered suspected shabu weigh around 25g and estimated to worth P162, 500.00. Also recovered inside the sling bag were glass tooter, personal belongings and the P25k buy-bust money including the court-prescribed bill intended for the operation.
The two arrested women did not issue any statement to the media covering the operation.
Lt. Marteja disclosed that the suspects are newly-identified drug peddlers in their municipality. He said that the suspects procured their supply from Tacloban City where the RPDEU monitored their activity and followed the two where they would sell their items. He added that when the RPDEU learned that the two are selling their illegal drugs in Marabut, they launched a buy-bust against the two that resulted to their arrest.
