A delivery driver and his cohort were arrested by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Tacloban City Police Office –Police Station 2 around 4AM June 23 at Brgy. 95 Caibaan, Tacloban City.
Station 2 Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Major Winrich Laya M. Lim identified the suspects as Angelo Palencia, alias Kal, 21, single, jobless; and Nelster Camacho, 26, rider for online seller Shopee Express. Both were residents of Brgy. 62-A Sagkahan, Tacloban City and were tagged as high-valued targets.
Subject of the operation was Palencia who yielded one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu procured by an operative for P5000.00. During the body search witnessed by barangay officials and members of the media, the searching cop recovered another six (6) sachets containing same suspected shabu, cash worth P5000.00 including one (1) P500.00 bill bearing serial number FJ885175 prescribed by court for the said operation while the remaining bills were all boodle money.
Meanwhile, two (2) sachets containing suspected shabu were recovered by the searcher from Camacho.
The police also seized the green multicab bearing plate number MAL-6480 boarded by the suspects during the operation along with one (1) digital weighing scale and one (1) small plastic cellophane.
As per police estimates, all recovered suspected shabu weigh around 15 grams with an estimated street value of P102, 000.00.
Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA9165) were pressed against the suspects who were temporarily detained at the lockup facility of Police Station 2 in Abucay.
