An estimated fifteen (15) grams of suspected shabu were recovered by elements of the Leyte Provincial Police Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (LPPO-PDEU) and the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Barugo Municipal Police Station during a buy-bust operation around 11:45AM June 27 at Poblacion, District 1, Barugo, Leyte.
LPPO-PDEU Chief Police Major J-Rale Paalisbo identified the suspect as Bernard Lim, 22, single, a butcher, and a resident of the said barangay. The suspect is tagged by the local police in their watch list while the PRO-8 listed him as a high-valued target.
Recovered from the suspect was one (1) sachet containing white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu procured by an operative worth P15, 000.00. During the body search witnessed by Brgy. Kagawad Cresencio Neon Baliña, Media representative Gil Anecito Tamayo, and DOJ representative Janice Alberca, the searching cop recovered a belt bag from the suspect. Recovered inside the belt bag were another ten (10) large sachets containing same suspected shabu estimated to weight over 14 grams with a street value of over P100K.
Also recovered inside the bag were fifteen (15) P1000.00 bills with one (1) bearing serial number RL335978 prescribed by court for the said operation while the other 14 were bogus money. Also confiscated was one (1) black Samsung cellphone which contains records of several transactions of the suspect and his clients.
The suspect refused to issue statements to the media.
Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA9165) were filed by the arresting officers at the Provincial Prosecutors Office last June 29 against the suspect who was temporarily detained at the Barugo MPS.
