The Philippine Coast Guard – Coast Guard Eastern Visayas District (CGEVD) renders arrival honors to newly-promoted Commodore Marco Antonio P. Gines around 10AM February 16 at the Ormoc City Port.

Commodore Gines is a member of the PMA Class “Mabikas” if 2006 and took his last flight on February 3 before Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur P. Tugade in Manila. He is the present commander of the CGEVD based in Ormoc City.

This position puts him in discussions of sovereignty and other issues concerning the laws of the seas. “There’s no room for mistakes in this position”, he emphasized.

Among his accomplishments, Commodore Gines singled-out his creation of an all-female diving team. This endeavor reinforces gender equality in the Coast Guard ranks as only male divers were created and recognized before. The creation on an all-female diving team was accepted and lauded by the hierarchy of the PCG when he presented it.

Presently, he is creating a Lifeguard Team that will be stationed here in the CGEVD and would respond to emergency situations. On his monitoring rounds of his jurisdiction, he observed a wide archipelago whose beaches are patronized not only by tourists but by locals also. This, prompted him to create a Lifeguard Team that
