A heated argument between two (2) cousins turned tragic when their disagreement escalated that resulted to the death of a welder around 6:40AM June 4 at Brgy. Balite, Kawayan, Biliran.
Kawayan Chief-of-Police (COP) Police Lt. Ismael Corzon identified the victim as Roy Vergara y Fuentes, 41, with live-in partner, a welder, and a resident of the said barangay. The suspect was identified as Roger Fuenter Sr. y Matuguinas, alias Egi, 46, married, a farmer, and a resident of Brgy. Tubig-Guinoo, Kawayan, Biliran.
Lt. Corzon, in a telephone interview, disclosed that the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident. The suspect accordingly confessed to the desk officer-on-duty about his killing of his relative and turned-over a bladed weapon commonly known as ‘sundang’ he used to hack the victim.
The police immediately responded to the area and found the lifeless victim bearing stab wounds that caused his death.
Lt. Corzon continued that on Friday (June 3) evening, the warring relatives started their argument but cooler heads prevented it to escalate. However, the suspect went to the victim’s house early the next morning for a confrontation. The confrontation between cousins turned tragic after the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times that resulted to the latter’s untimely demise.
The suspect accordingly surrendered to the police station after the incident and shown no signs of remorse for what he had committed.
Personnel from the Rural Health Unit (RHU-Kawayan) conducted a post mortem examination to the body of the victim whom they declared as dead on the spot.
