An employee of the Local Government Unit of Albuera was arrested during a buy-bust operation morning of July 28 at Poblacion, Albuera, Leyte.
The said operation was launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-8) headed Intelligence Office I codename SGMA and the 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade Intelligence Unit headed by Capt. Kevin Jay Latoza.
The suspect was identified as Jovito Sanglitan Soquiño, 47, an employee assigned as a caretaker at the Albuera Gym.
Recovered from the suspect was one (1) sachet containing suspected shabu bought by an operative for P500.00. During the body search witnessed by SB Member Serapio Cayanong, the suspect yielded another six (6) sachets containing the same suspected shabu and the P500.00 bill marked money used in the operation. The confiscated pieces of evidence were estimated to weigh one (1) gram.
The suspect however said he already stopped using illegal drugs in March.
Charges for violations of Sec. 5 and 11 of Art. II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA9165) is being prepared against the suspect who was detained at the Albuera MPS.
