Joey Vincent C. Motel | February 23, 2022

In their continuous efforts to help the people of the Island Municipality of Limasawa to recover from the devastation of Super Typhoon Odette, the 802nd Infantry (Peerless) Brigade managed to pool P75, 000.00 during the Albuera, Leyte-leg on the simultaneous Bike for a Cause last February 14.

The said Bike for a Cause bannered with the theme “Padyak Para sa Pagbangon ng mga Limasawnon” was also simultaneously held in Naval, Biliran, Tacloban City, Maasin City and Limasawa.

Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Noel A. Vestuir, in his message, relays that while activity falls on Valentine’s Day, it opened up the opportunity to extend love to the people of Limasawa who are still struggling to recover from the destruction of Super Typhoon Odette last December 16. Through Joint Task Force (JTF) Storm, Limasawnons gradually stood back though rehabilitation and repairs are still ongoing.

Col. Vestuir, who himself joined the event, explained that while the accumulated proceeds of P75k be smaller, it is but heartwarming for this part of the province to extend help. He thanked the sponsors and the participants who joined the event. He calls on to those who wish to send help as much is still needed for the typhoon victims there. The brigade will though wait for the advice of the beneficiaries as to how the proceeds will be sent, either cash or materials, they will be helping in the logistics.

Cycling groups from Ormoc City and Albuera as well as personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and from the sponsoring companies participated in the said activity.

Albuera Leyte Cyclists Association (ALCA) Secretary Paulman Paulo reiterates his group’s commitment to participate and help activities organized by the brigade. He shared that ALCA has supported and joined the Bike for Peace event organized months ago and continued such support in this activity for the victims for Super Typhoon Odette.
